The Victorian Era lasted from 1837 to 1901 and this was one of the most prominent times for architecture in North America. This is when the population of America really started to explode with immigrants coming to live the American Dream and many new residential and commercial properties were springing up all across the country. If you are interested in Mississauga real estate or a home in Lubbock with history and character than you will likely be looking at homes in the Victorian style. Here are some of the main characteristics of this architectural design in city and country homes.

The most common homes in the Victorian style that you will find in Lubbock or with Toronto beach homes are Queen Anne or early homes from the Arts and Crafts Movement. Painted Ladies homes are popular in cities like San Francisco, while you will see some examples of Neo-Renaissance in places like New York City and with some mansions along the East Coast. There are also some fine examples across the country in the Neo-Romanesque or Gothic Revival style.

The Queen Anne style rose in popularity in England in the 1870s, with the best-known architect in the field being Richard Norman Shaw. His designs often had Tudor influences and became very popular in North American. This was where it got its name. These homes commonly used stone or brickwork in England but as they came to America that was replaced with wood siding. Steeple like roofs are frequently used as well as triangular awnings in the middle of a front porch. From a home sale Whitby to properties in Lubbock you will usually find that most of these homes are quite large, but there are some examples in a row house style.

What was known as the Arts and Crafts Movement in England became the American Craftsman style in the USA. This era of design was between the Art Nouveau and Art Deco movements and lasted from about the late 1800s to 1925. This was an effort to create a "tasteful middle-class home" by using locally made wood, glass and metal work. They were built to be simple and elegant and that might be why many of these homes still fit surrounded by condos Toronto Ontario based and here in Lubbock.

If you're interested in a Victorian era home than there are certainly lots of interesting examples to choose from across the country. But, like with any older homes, you will need to do a little extra digging to make sure that there are no major problems with the property. While you won't get the same level of character with Liberty Village condos they do ensure less maintenance.
