Lubbock, commonly known as the "Hub City", is known for its economic, education and health care hub. Lubbock has the largest contiguous cotton-growing region in the world, and is dependent on the irrigation water that is drawn from the Ogallala Aquifer.

However, the newest area is Canyon West, which is located of the brand new Marsha Sharp Freeway. Canyon West offers all shoppers an assortment of new stores including an Ultra Salon & Cosmetics, a Starbucks, and an indoor recreation and entertainment center.

Lubbock is also known as the birthplace of the rock and roll legend, Buddy Holly. His legacy is reminisced through the local radio station KDAV, through the annual Lubbock Music Festival, and the Buddy and Maria Holly Plaza.
